Chennai to Pondicherry via East Coast Road (ECR): Scenic Coastal Drive

The 155 km stretch of State Highway 49, popularly known as the East Coast Road (ECR), connects Chennai with Puducherry. Hugging the Bay of Bengal coastline, it is widely regarded as one of India's most scenic coastal drives.

1. Muttukadu Boat House (KM 30): Stop for jet-skiing and backwater boat rides.
2. Kovalam Beach: A hotspot for surfing lessons and beachside cafe coffee.
3. Mahabalipuram UNESCO Heritage Site (KM 55): Marvel at the 7th-century Shore Temple and Pancha Rathas carved directly out of granite rocks.
4. Marakkanam Salt Pans (KM 110): Watch shimmering white salt pans stretching as far as the eye can see.
